Troubles with Active Content when Previewing in Internet Explorer

When you are previewing your ProForm course in Internet Explorer you may experience a warning from an Internet Explorer security device. The warning will be a small yellow bar at the top of your browser.

The warning continues by warning that the page is attempting to use Active Content, and allows you click for more options.

Getting Around the Warning

The warning appears because of a security setting in Internet Explorer. You can do one of two things to get around this problem.

1) The first way to solve the problem is to manually tell Internet Explorer to override the blocked content. You can do this by simply clicking on the yellow bar and selecting “Allow Blocked Content.” The advantage to this solution is that you will still be protected from Active Content from potentially dangerous web pages. The disadvantage to this approach is that you will have to click “Allow Blocked Content” every time you want to preview a ProForm course.

2) The second way to solve this problem is to change your settings in Internet Explorer. You can do this by going to Tools > Internet Options. Then, on the Advanced Tab, you will see a checkbox under the “security” section which reads, “Allow active content to run in files on My Computer.” Check this box. This will cause the warning to never appear again. The advantage to this approach is that it is a one-time fix that will solve the problem permanently. The disadvantage is that it will disable a potentially helpful security feature.
