As I was looking through the legacy forums I came across the following which has been one of our issues:

Posted - 01/30/2009:  17:39:33

  • We have had several users launch the page, the imsmanifest.xml loads, but the SCO does not. They exit and their transcript will show a status of complete. We know that they could not have completed the course (sometimes the recorded time in the activity is less than 10sec).

I have the Project Tracking set to "SCORM 1.2" and the course completion status set to "none". I used these settings because I want the completion status to be set by the button I described above.

I think what is happening is the manifest is not telling SCORM what it's status is, when the SCO does not load and the user exits, it defaults to complete.

Should I change the Course Completion Status to "Incomplete" in the Project Settings? Would this set the course to "incomplete" if the SCO does not load (which is the desired result), but then allow the click of the final button to set the SCO back to complete if the SCO did load?

This has been our exact issue except we have the Project Tracking set to “SCORM 1.2” and the Course Completion status set to “completed”.

Your response to the previous post was:

  • “However, I believe you can force it to do this in the HTML wrapper. Look through that code and see if there is a place you can activate that will set the completion status to incomplete.

The HTML wrapper I'm speaking of is the one generated by Flashform (player.html). So you should have access to that.

It can be set in the Flashform course. We do it with the latest version of ProForm. I'm just not sure if your version has this or not. If it doesn't you could edit the player2.as file and add it in. “

Will changing the Course Completion status to “Incomplete” solve the issue?  We also have five review quizzes along the way set at api(pass or fail).  They are set this way because we have our pages set at Restricted Based on Completion.  If we set our quizzes at pas or incomplete (SCORM 1.2) then users cannot move to the next topic.

We have been calling this issue False Completes and I previously tried to address this issue but I guess I was confusing. We are currently using Flashform Professional v 2.2.

What can happen is if a course only partially loads and full communication doesn't happen to set the status to incomplete, the LMS may set it to complete by default. I think there is a good chance that making this change could correct the issue since you are using Flashform 2.2.
